Pain is in a way our body’s alarm system. When we feel pain, it means something is
wrong. When an organ or a part of our
body is harmed or diseased, we feel pain in most cases. |

Some acute pains correspond to well identified
pathologies. For example, appendicitis
provokes sharp pains in a very specific spot (of the belly), and so does a
stomach ulcer, a bad tooth, a laryngitis, an otitis, etc. But many pains are also more diffuse, with
no obvious direct link with a lesion or pathology. Headaches, stomach aches, back aches, heavy
legs, muscle pain, and others, are common for many people who think they’re
just part of life. But we must not accept to live in pain. Even when there is no obvious pathology,
pain reveals some kind of malfunction that has to be identified and
treated. A nutritionist has a complementary role to a medical
doctor. He/she will be able to
identify the cause of the unbalance and to help the patient work his/her way
back to a balanced state. |

When we stop pain, with pain killers for example, we
eliminate alarm signals our body is giving us. Of course, in cases of extreme suffering,
it is humanly necessary to appease the pain.
But there are other methods than chemical treatment : homeopathy,
acupuncture, shiatsu, etc. |

In general, it is better and more efficient in the
long term, to identify the cause of a pain or a malfunction and to act on it,
rather than to deal only with the symptom.
Therefore it is important to know how to interpret the signs our body
is giving us (headache, stomach ache, sore throat, etc.) |

A healthy body should not normally be in pain,
unless hit, broken, cut or burnt. |
